Committees of the PCC 2012-13:
You could be just the person we are looking for!
At the first full meeting of the new PCC, following the Annual Parochial Church Meeting, members will decide which committees to establish in order to help All Saints’ and Salutation to further God’s mission. All regular worshippers within the Church are then invited to offer their services on these committees by adding their names to lists that will appear in the Church Foyer. The following are the ones that we have been working with over the last year:
Community Outreach Committee:
This helps the Church to communicate the Christian message to the people of the parish, and to minister to their needs. This outreach is expressed in: lay pastoral care, a ministry of welcome, written and electronic communication, evangelistic initiatives, charitable giving and educated concern. This committee is responsible for developing the Church’s concern for the needs of the wider society and world.
Worship Committee:
This is responsible for working with the clergy and readers to help with the reviewing of, and planning for, worship, particularly special services. In addition, this committee will liaise, where necessary, with the Ministry Group.
Finance Committee:
This aims to support both treasurers, to develop effective stewardship of all the Church’s various financial resources including Planned Giving, and to develop, monitor and report on the annual budget. It also ensures that our insurance cover is adequate and it takes responsibility for any recommendations that are necessary with our insurers. This committee is responsible for pursuing ways of financing future development of the church building. It also monitors the finances of the Pre-School Group.
Buildings and Grounds Committee:
This is responsible for the care and upkeep of the Church and its grounds, and Salutation Hall and its grounds. It is also responsible for ensuring that any recommendations of a quinquennial report are implemented. It also undertakes, on behalf of the All Saints’ Millennium Centre Trustees, to take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the Millennium Centre.
Social Committee:
This organises and co-ordinates social occasions throughout the year that give Church members an opportunity for fellowship. Some of these events will raise money for PCC funds. One event in each year raises money for a special local charitable cause that is different from others supported by the parish.
Green Action Group:
This Group encourages responsible stewardship of God’s creation.
You may be interested to learn that nearly seventy people have served on these committees and groups over the past year. Please, consider offering to serve on one of them. You could be just the person we are looking for!
